Method 1: Delete a column with the Delete command

1. Left-click the column header of the column you want to remove.

2. Right-click the same header and select Delete.

3. The column is removed and columns to the right shift left.

Example: on a Profit and Loss sheet, to remove a Total column in column O, click header O, right-click, then choose Delete.

Method 2: Delete a column with a keyboard shortcut

1. Left-click the column header to select it.

2. Press and hold Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac) and press -.

3. The selected column is deleted.

Can I quickly delete multiple columns in Excel?

Yes for adjacent columns. Select the full block of headers, then use Delete or Ctrl + - / Command + -. For non-adjacent columns, Excel does not delete the whole multi-selection in one step the same way; delete each column (or contiguous block) separately.
